Vegan Products in 2021
22 January 2021
Going vegan extends beyond food. The products you put on your skin, hair, and body matter too. Animal-derived ingredients like lanolin, beeswax, carmine, and keratin are found in everything from moisturisers to shampoos. Here are the vegan grooming and personal care products worth switching to.
Skincare
- The Ordinary: Affordable, effective, and the vast majority of their range is vegan. Their Niacinamide serum and Hyaluronic Acid are cult favourites.
- Sukin: Australian brand, 100% vegan and cruelty-free. Their Rosehip Oil and Foaming Facial Cleanser are excellent.
- Bulldog: Men's skincare that is vegan-certified. Their Original Moisturiser is simple and effective.
Hair Care
- Faith in Nature: Plant-based shampoos and conditioners in recyclable bottles. The Lavender and Geranium range smells incredible.
- Ethique: Solid shampoo and conditioner bars. Zero plastic waste, fully vegan, and surprisingly effective.
Oral Care
- Truthpaste: Natural, vegan toothpaste in a glass jar. Comes in flavours like fennel and peppermint.
- Georganics: Mineral-rich vegan toothpaste and mouthwash tablets. Plastic-free packaging.
Deodorant
- Wild: Refillable natural deodorant with a reusable aluminium case. Vegan, effective, and zero-waste.
- Salt of the Earth: Crystal deodorant that lasts months. No aluminium chlorohydrate, fully vegan.
How to Check
Look for the Vegan Society trademark (the sunflower logo) or the Leaping Bunny certification. Be aware that "cruelty-free" does not always mean vegan — a product can avoid animal testing but still contain animal-derived ingredients. Always check the full ingredients list.
