Join our expert speakers as they discuss the ruling of veganism as a protected belief and how vegans can make a difference in the workplace
The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Vegetarianism and Veganism provides a forum for discussing issues around vegetarianism and veganism.
This event will be especially valuable if you are a HR professional or if you’re responsible for wellbeing, equality and discrimination in your organisation. But if you’re a vegan and interested in workplace issues, please join us to learn more.
Christina Rees MP, the the Chair of the APPG for Vegetarianism and Veganism will introduce our panel of speakers including:
- Peter Daly is a Principal Employment Lawyer at Slater and Gordon. Peter litigated on behalf of Jordi Casamitjana Costa in a landmark employment tribunal which established that ethical veganism is a protected philosophical belief, protected by discrimination legislation.
- Dr. Jeannette Rowley is The Vegan Society’s legal expert and chair of it’s International Rights Network. In early 2020 the network produced a guide for employers about supporting veganism in the workplace.
- Sadie Cable and Jack Barber are co-chairs of Suffolk County Council’s Vegan Staff Network. The network supports vegan staff, promotes understanding and seeks to influence decision making in their organisation.
After hearing from each of our speakers you will have the opportunity to ask written questions which will be put to our panel by the host.
The APPG is funded by The Vegan Society and Vegetarian for Life. The Vegan Society serves as secretariat. For more information please visit: https://vegappg.org.uk
