In this time of social distancing, let’s use what unites us, the joy that comes from food, to come together. The power of food can warm our spirits and nourish our bodies. It can even fight diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. A vegan diet of whole grains, beans, vegetables, and fruits can help prevent diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other chronic diseases. According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, “Ap-propriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases.”
Understand how to prepare cancer-fighting meals loaded with antioxidants and phytochemicals, high-fiber and low-fat foods, and healthy dairy alternatives. This single class will also focus on preventing breast and prostate cancer. We will discus information on planning meals and maintaining a healthy weight.
The Food for Health series is divided into three classes: Food for Fitness, Food for a Healthy Brain and Food for a Healthy Heart. This month I will be offering the Food for Fitness as a single class. This is a great introduction to the value of plant based protein for energetic workouts and muscle recovery. Each class will feature a nutrition education video, discussion, and cooking demonstration.
Your Body in Balance classes incorporates how food and hormones play a powerful role throughout your body. Dietary choices have a surprisingly powerful effect on hormones and the problems they cause. The information provided in these classes explains the latest research and offers a new approach to treating, preventing, and even curing many of the most common and persistent health problems.
